Moravian Volunteer Resources HAITI — October 23rd - 30th
We now have a definitive date for our next Moravian effort to
serve the people of Haiti following the devastating earthquake
months ago. We have purposely waited until not to allow the Professionals
in these kinds of disasters to do what they do best. Our
Lord has opened a door for us to partner with a local Winston-
Salem doctor and a local Presbyterian church to travel to Haiti on
October 23rd through the 30th. . . .
Cost of this trip will depend on the price of your flight to and
from Haiti from your area but should average around $1200-
$1500 per person. MVR will have Grant Money for travel to
those that need it and apply. Also, some mission training will be
required and will be facilitated by MVR.

Exciting New
Summer Classes
For the Kids, it's all about EATING. This series, titled "Guess Who's
coming to Breakfast" is for children ages 4-11. It will meet two
Sundays a month - June 13, 27, July 11, 25, August 8, 22 at 9:30 am.
The children will enjoy a delicious breakfast and meet an
important person from the Bible. Each class is a stand-alone lesson,
so it will be a good opportunity for visitors to share in this fun format.
For the
Adults, it's all about ANGELS. This class will meet in the fellowship
hall at 9:30 on Sunday Mornings.
Responding to the wide-spread, modern cultural
interest in-even obsession with-the
agents of heaven and their role in our world,
popular Bible teacher David Jeremiah provides
an in-depth, biblical look at the hot
topic of angels, giving a broad and thorough
survey of Scriptural teaching illustrated by
powerful quotes from prominent teachers
Billy Graham, C.S. Lewis, and others. Books are being ordered now, so sign-up
today!
Also for Adults,
"Learning Theology with C.S. Lewis" is being organized. This
particular series will use the celebrated space series books which include:
“Out of the Silent Planet,” “Perelandra,” and
“That Hideous Strength.” The adventure begins with the remarkable life and
times of Dr. Ransom who visits various
planets and encounters different types of life both good and evil. In the
classic Lewis style, there is always a story of
metaphor running behind the obvious of what one reads. This class is
designed for those who would like to explore traditional biblical concepts
in a non-traditional way. If interested in taking this class, please contact
the church office. |
