Agape Christian Counseling
-
On Monday afternoons, our church acts as
the northern satellite office for Agape Christian Counseling, a service
founded in 1998, with the philosophy of counseling integrating Biblical truth
with psychological principals in the healing process. Agape is the
Greek word in the New Testament for unconditional love and acceptance.
It is Christian love -- unselfish love, which arises form a keen sense of
the value and work of one loved. While committed to a Biblical
approach to therapy, Agape welcomes all people who seek counseling
regardless of religious background. Whom do they counsel?
Adults, children and adolescents, couples, families and groups. Areas of Focus? Marriage & family problems, relationship
problems, personal struggles with anxiety, depression, stress, doubt, a sense of failure or a lack of fulfillment, coping with loss or grief, emotional problems associated with physical illness or accident, issues
related to separation, divorce, remarriage & step-families, recovery form abuse or trouble backgrounds, problems related to transitions -- aging, growing up, & job changes, & many more. Appointment can be made at 704-849-0144. Please leave your name & phone number so that someone can contact you. (All counseling is confidential.)
Clowning for Christ - This group is looking for youth, young
adults or senior citizens to join in this activity. It involves
visiting shut ins, nursing homes, hospitals, youth homes, assisted living
facilities, etc. to read, entertain, decorate or many other activities.
Contact Brenda Moore if you are interested in this
activity.
Hospice -
Our
community has several associates who are active in local Hospice
organizations, and our church has an "Adopt Group" that works with
Hospice of Lake Norman.
Men's Homeless Shelter - Several members and
associates of our church spent Thanksgiving and a night in January serving
meals at a Men's Homeless Shelter in Charlotte. Everyone involved felt
good about this mission and hope to continue and grow this ministry next
winter.
Mission Camps at Laurel Ridge - Adult and Youth
groups from our church have attended these in the past, and are scheduled to
attend again this summer and fall.
Monthly Missions - Our Women of Hope group
provides monthly mission objectives to help less fortunate
members of our community and around the world. This usually involves the
collection and delivery of
food goods, clothing, blankets, or items related to health and hygiene.
Stephens Ministries - We
have two members in our congregation who are certified as leaders in this multi-denominational, nationwide network of
persons trained in caring ministries. Stephen Ministers are lay
caregivers who provide one-to-one Christian care to anyone facing a crisis or life
challenge. The recipient of the care may be
bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed or
relocated. The system is
designed to support and assist the Pastor and congregation, and provide
quality caring for those in need. Contact Dick Gardner for more information.
